Railway Exams: Non-Technical Popular Categories (NTPC), Paramedical Staff, Railway Group D, Group C Posts, Railway Protection Special Force (RPSF) and Railway Protection Force (RPF).

Recruitment under Quota: Sports Quota, Scouts & Guides Quota and Cultural Quota.

Educational Qualification: Minimum 10th class passed or ITI or equivalent trade for Group C and D posts. Graduate/ Post Graduate for Group A and B posts.

Group ‘A’ Posts ↪ Appointment to Group A posts is done by UPSC – through Civil Services Examination, Engineering Services Examination and Combined Medical Services Examination.

Group ‘B’ Posts ↪ These posts are not available directly. Group B posts include Section Officer grade posts – which are upgraded posts on deputation basis from Group ‘C’ railway employees.

Group ‘C’ Posts ↪ Technical and Non-Technical Cadre Posts like Clerk, Station Master, Ticket Collector, Commercial Trainee, Traffic Trainee, Engineering Posts (Civil, Mechanical, Electrical, Signal & Telecommunication) etc.

Group ‘D’ Posts ↪ These posts of various subjects include Trackman, Helper, Assistant Points Man, Safaiwala, Gunman, Peon etc.

Other Posts ↪ ITI Trainees, Sports Quota, Cultural Quota, Scouts & Guides Quota etc.

Selection Process: Written Examination. There is no interview (viva voce) after the written examination. For very few specific (Group A and B) categories, the written examination is followed by viva, while for some other categories there is a skill test (like typing test or stenography test) and for operational safety related categories like Assistant Station Master, Assistant Loco Pilot there is an aptitude test.
