On August 20, 2024, the President of India Draupadi Murmu organized a ceremony among 21 geologists at the Rashtrapati Bhavan Cultural Center in New Delhi, Delhi. Ministry of Mines Of 2023 National Geoscience Awards (NGA) Proposal.

National Geoscience Awards 2023 About this:

Academicians and participants from across the country 21 Geologists To three floors: Challenge for National Geoscience Award, National Geoscience Award and National Young Geologist Award under total 12 , has offered.

National Geoscience Awards-2023 For award winners:

1.Achievement for National Geoscience Award:

He is Emeritus Scientist of the Indian National Science Academy (INSA), New Delhi (Delhi) Professor Dheeraj Mohan Benab The dissertation was presented for his research on phosphorites, isotope geology and asbestos geochemistry of Precambrian sedimentary rocks in India.

  • His work has contributed significantly to our understanding of the Himalayas and their static origins.

About the Award:

It is awarded to an individual with particularly high levels of achievement for sustained and significant contribution in any discipline in the NGA Institutions 2022 Volume-2.

  • In this award 5 Rupees Lakh A cash amount of Rs. 50000 and a certificate is given.

2. National Young Geo-Scientist Award:

The award is given to Assistant Professor at Indian Institute of Science Education and Research (IISER), Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala Dr Ashutosh Pandey to be provided.

  • The award recognised his groundbreaking research on the geodynamic evolution of the East Dharwar Craton and a new model for the origin of Paleoproterozoic Lesser Himalayan mafic glaciers.

About the Award:

It is awarded to any person who has completed 35 years of age as on 31 December of the previous year for outstanding research work in any field of geology.

  • In each award 3 Rupees Lakh Cash prize and a certificate are given. In case of team award, the prize money will be divided equally.

3. National Geoscience Awards:

National Geoscience Awards (10 Awards) include individuals or teams for contribution in any discipline in section-2 of NGA University 2022. This award is given for 4 different grades under different fields,

  • Section-I – Mineral Discovery and Mineral Resources
  • Section-II – Minerals, Minerals and Sustainable Mineral Development
  • Section-III – Basic Geology
  • Section-IV – Applied Geology

In awards 1 Rupees Lakh The award includes a cash award of Rs. 5 lakhs and a research grant of Rs. 5 lakhs over 5 years along with ownership of a passport showing annual progress and a certificate.

Area (iv): Mineral salts and sustainable mineral development

– Mineral aggregates, mineral economics production and mineral economics are involved in the development and pricing of minerals.

– Sustainable mineral development includes mine closure, project development, machinery development and capacity building.

Section- Third – Research Geology
Area (v): Research Geology

These include scientific and Antarctic research in stratigraphy, chemistry, archaeology, geology, geochemistry, geochronology and isotopic geology, ocean evolution (oceanography and marine geology), glaciology and geodetic expeditions; and data science surveys/baseline geology collection which includes geological and geochemical mapping and surveys, and principle thematic mapping.
